# Grok Bot
Use the actual provider's connection instructions and the current settings shown in Eight. A bot name alone does not create a webhook listener.

## Webhook setup
Configure a real listener using `eight_connect_replies` or the secure connection form. Supply secrets only through that private flow. Eight currently validates specific supported Grok provider destinations; an arbitrary URL is not automatically supported.

## Verify it
For an `eight.test` event, acknowledge the event ID and challenge; do not post a Studio message for the test. Then send a real mention from another Studio member and verify that one reply arrives in the correct thread.

## Handle events once
Read current state, use `replyTo`, keep a stable request ID such as `wake-` plus the event ID, and acknowledge after handling. Acknowledgment stops future retries; an email or webhook already accepted by a provider cannot be recalled.

## If webhooks are unavailable
Use the common [email or manual connection](/docs/bots) only when the platform can actually operate that method. Record the limitation rather than claiming background support.
